How to Play – Premier League Wordball
A Wordle-style challenge where you have 6 attempts to guess the mystery Premier League player.
⚽ What is Premier League Wordball?
Premier League Wordball is a football twist on the classic Wordle-style game. Each round, there is one mystery Premier League player to find. You use letter feedback (grey, yellow and green tiles) plus a few carefully chosen hints to work out who the player is.
- You have 6 attempts to guess the correct player.
- The number of tiles shows you how many letters are in their name.
- Colours after each guess show how close you are (grey, yellow, green).
- Facts and hints reveal extra details – but each hint will cost you a life.
🎯 Your goal & number of attempts
Your job is to work out which footballer’s name fits perfectly into the tile spaces.
- You have 6 attempts to find the correct player.
- You must enter a name with the exact number of characters shown by the tiles to submit a guess.
- Each guess must be a valid football player’s name (no random letters).
🟩 Tile colours & what they mean
After you submit a name, each letter tile will change colour to show how close your guess is:
💡 Facts, hints & lives
To help you, each puzzle includes a fact about the player and a Hint button that reveals extra clues. Use them carefully – each hint costs a life.
From the start, you’ll see the club or team the player played for. This gives you an initial clue before you even make a guess.
Click Hint once to reveal the position they played (e.g. striker, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper).
Click Hint again to see the year (or range of years) they played for that team.
Click Hint a third time to reveal the player’s nationality.
🏆 Tips to improve your chances
- Start with a well-known player that fits the correct number of letters.
- Use your first few guesses to test different letters rather than repeating the same ones.
- Once you have green tiles, lock those positions in and rotate yellow letters around them.
- Save hints for when you are genuinely stuck – remember, each one costs a life.
- Use the team & position together: for example, a striker at a certain club in a certain year narrows it down fast.
