About Footy Penalty-Shootout
Footy Penalty-Shootout is a strategic, battleships-style penalty challenge where every strike, every dive and every decision matters. Instead of simply clicking to shoot and hoping for the best, you have to outthink the CPU by setting up your keeper zones and reading the game like a true penalty specialist.
Before the shootout starts, you choose six squares on the goal grid. These represent the areas your keeper will dive to when the CPU steps up to take a penalty. The CPU secretly does the same for its own goalkeeper, creating a tactical mind game that plays out over five tense penalties each.
When it’s your turn to shoot, you pick a square on the grid and hope the CPU goalkeeper hasn’t covered it. Aim well and you’ll slot home a green goal. Hit a defended square and you’ll see red as the keeper pulls off a save. After both sides take their five penalties, any draw goes straight into sudden death – just like the real thing.
How the game works
- Set your keeper zones: Choose 6 yellow squares on the grid where your keeper will dive.
- CPU sets up too: The CPU secretly chooses its own 6 keeper squares.
- Your turn to shoot: Click a square to take a penalty and try to avoid the CPU’s keeper zones.
- CPU penalties: The CPU shoots at your goal – if it hits one of your yellow squares, you save it.
- Best of 5, then sudden death: If you’re level after 5 each, it goes to sudden death.
- Grid colours: Yellow = your keeper, Green = your goals, Red = your saved shots, Blue = CPU goals.
